    Housing Discrimination - Fair Housing

    The Fair Housing Act secures people from discrimination when they are renting or purchasing a home, getting a mortgage, seeking housing support, or participating in other housing-related activities.

    The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of:

    - Race.
    - Color.
    - National Origin.
    - Religion.
    - Sex.
    - Familial Status.
    - Disability.
    What Is Prohibited?

    In the Sale and Rental of Housing:

    It is unlawful discrimination to take any of the following actions due to the fact that of race, color, religious beliefs, sex, disability, familial status, or nationwide origin:

    - Refuse to rent or offer housing.
    - Refuse to negotiate for housing.
    - Otherwise make housing unavailable.
    - Set various terms, conditions or advantages for sale or leasing of a residence.
    - Provide a person different housing services or facilities.
    - Falsely deny that housing is offered for inspection, sale or leasing.
    - Make, print or publish any notice, declaration or advertisement with respect to the sale or leasing of a dwelling that shows any preference, constraint or discrimination.
    - Impose different prices or rental charges for the sale or rental of a home.
    - Use various certification criteria or applications, or sale or rental standards or procedures, such as earnings requirements, application requirements, application charges, credit analyses, sale or rental approval treatments or other requirements.
    - Evict a renter or a renter's visitor.
    - Harass a person.
    - Fail or delay efficiency of upkeep or repair work.
    - Limit opportunities, services or facilities of a house.
    - Discourage the purchase or rental of a home.
    - Assign an individual to a specific structure or community or area of a building or area.

    Harassment:
